INDIAN LEATHER EXPORTS BOOST UP BY 25%

First Half FY 2022-2023: 

Indian Leather Exports Boost Up by 25%

According to the latest report by the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S), Indian exports of Leather and Leather products for the first half of the financial year 2022-23 period (Apr-Sept 2022) touched US $ 2841.52 million as against the performance of US $ 2261.17 million in first half 2022, recording growth of 25.67%.   

In category wise leather footwear, export turnover reached to $1.28 billion, an increase of almost +37% over the same period last year, while leather garments brought in $193 million, rose by +10.9%.  

Export of finished leather products brought in $224.92 million, which saw a slight drop of -0.14%. Other leather goods shipments reported export revenue of $710 million, +21% year-on-year.  

Another sector which saw the slight decline was saddlery products, with export revenue of $130 million, -1.79% over the same period last year.
